ว่ากันด้วยเรื่อง .."ขน".. ของไซบีเรียน ฮัสกี้ ค่ะ

เนื่องจากว่าเรื่องขนของไซบีเรียนมักจะเป็น topic ที่มีคนสงสัยกันว่ามันต้องเป็นแบบไหน แบบไหนถูกแบบไหนผิด แบบนี้ยาวไปรึเปล่า ความยาวของขนที่เหมาะสมโดยไม่ผิด breed standard คืออะไร ฯลฯ ก็เลยขอสรุปแบบคร่าวในเรื่องราวเกี่ยวกับขนของ Siberian Husky ไว้ในกระทู้นี้เลยแล้วกันนะคะ


ขนของ Siberian Husky ที่ถูกต้องมีอยู่แบบเดียวนะคะ ตาม Breed Standard หรือที่เราเรียกกันว่า มาตรฐานสายพันธุ์ไซบีเรียน ฮัสกี้ ซึ่งระบุไว้ดังนี้

COAT
HAIR: The coat of the Siberian Husky is double and medium in length, giving a well furred appearance, but is never so long as to obscure the cleancut outline of the dog. The undercoat is soft and dense and of sufficient length to support the outer coat. The guard hairs of the outer coat are straight and somewhat smooth lying, never harsh nor standing straight off from the body. It should be noted that the absence of the undercoat during the shedding season is normal. Trimming of whiskers and fur between the toes and around the feet to present a neater appearance is permissible. Trimming the fur on any other part of the dog is not to be condoned and should be severely penalized.

"The Siberian coat is unique among Arctic breeds because of the medium length. Wooly Coat คือ อะไร? (ขออนุญาตอ้างอิงจาก link ด้านบนซึ่งเขียนไว้ว่า)

Although the Siberian Husky has a double coat (downy soft undercoat and longer guard hairs), the hair should not be excessively long as with the dogs pictured on this page. Long hair is not only a fault in a show dog Siberian, it can be dangerous in a working Siberian. The long hair collects snow, possibly causing irritation and injury. It is also a concern because it takes longer to dry, a dangerous fault in extremely cold weather.

"Wooly" Siberians may look interesting, but they should not be bred as they do not perpetuate the desired Siberian look. We invite you to look at the differences between an appropriate length of coat and the overly long wooly type.

แปลคร่าวๆ คือ "แม้่ว่าไซบีเรียน ฮัสกี้ จะมีขน 2 ชั้น (ขนชั้นในอ่อนนุ่ม แล้วขนชั้นนอกยาวตรง) ขนก็ไม่ควรจะยาวเหมือนในรูปสุนัขใน link ด้านบน ขนยาวไม่เพียงแต่จะเป็น fault ในการประกวด แต่ยังเป็นอันตรายในสุนัขไซบีเรียนที่ใช้งาน(ลากเลื่อน)ด้วย ขนยาวจะเก็บหิมะ(ไม่กันหิมะ) ซึ่งจะเป็นผลให้เกิดอาการระคาย อักเสบและเกิดบาดแผลจากหิมะกัด ขนยาวแบบวูลลี่โคทยังมีข้อเสียอีก คือใช้เวลาที่นานกว่าในการแห้ง และยังเป็นข้อเสียที่อันตรายมากในสภาพอากาศหนาวเย็น

ไซบีเรียน ฮัสกี้ แบบ "วูลลี่ โค๊ท" อาจดูน่าสนใจ(น่ารัก) แต่พวกมันไม่สมควรถูกเพาะพันธุ์ เพราะเป็นสิ่งที่ไม่พึงปรารถนาสำหรับความเป็นไซบีเรียน อันนี้ก็ขอเชิญทุกท่านมาดูความแตกต่างระหว่างไซบีเรียนที่มีความยาวของขนที่ถูกต้อง(เหมาะสม) กับ ไซบีเรียนวูลลี่ขนยาว (วูลลี่ โค๊ท)"

โดยทางพันธุกรรม ไซบีเรียน ฮัสกี้ ที่หายาก แบบวูลลี่โค๊ท และ สีขาวล้วนทั้งตัว ล้วนแล้วแต่เป็นลักษณะที่แอบแฝงอยู่ในพันธุกรรมเป็นยีนส์ที่ถูกข่ม (Recessive Gene) ซึ่งสามารถถ่ายทอดต่อไปได้

recessive gene = ยีนที่ถูกข่ม ซึ่งหลายๆคนเรียกว่ายีนด้อย แต่จริงๆแล้วไว้เป็นยีนที่ถูกข่ม recessive gene หลายๆตัว เป็นยีนที่ดี หรือ เป็นลักษณะที่ถูกต้องตาม breed standard

สำหรับผม wooly coat ก็คือ น้องไซตัวนึง ถ้าเลี้ยงแล้วก็ให้ความรักปกติเหมือนๆกับตัวอื่นๆ แต่จะไม่ผสมพันธุ์เค้า เพื่อไม่ให้ recessive gene ที่ไม่ถูกต้องตาม Breed Standard ถูกถ่ายทอดต่อไปสู่รุ่นลูกหลานครับ
